Facile Preparation of Co3O4 Hollow Dodecahedron with Superior Peroxidase-like Activity for Selective Detection of Cholesterol

The Co3O4 hollow dodecahedron (Co3O4@CN) was prepared by calcining ZIF-67 in N2 and then air atmosphere. In the Co3O4@CN compound material, nanoparticles (Co3O4 NPs) are anchored carbon skeleton, solving aggregation problem of NPs. Because retains porous structure ZIF-67, presence Co2+ Co3+ favors electron transfer between enzyme substrates, it has excellent peroxidase-like (POD-like) activity. Enzymatic kinetic tests show that approximately six times more affinity for TMB than HRP maximal reaction rate is three HRP. cholesterol sensor constructed with Co3O4@CN, its linear range 20-1000 ?M, detection limit 14.33 ?M. application to human serum will be a valuable research direction.

Intrinsic peroxidase-like activity and catalase-like activity of Co3O4 nanoparticles.
We demonstrate that Co(3)O(4) nanoparticles (NPs) exhibit intrinsic peroxidase-like activity and catalase-like activity. The peroxidase-like activity of the Co(3)O(4) NPs originates from their ability of electron transfer between reducing substrates and H(2)O(2), not from ˙OH radical generated. As peroxidase mimetics, Co(3)O(4) NPs were used for colorimetric determination of H(2)O(2) and glucose.
